Torquay Project: A Coastal Airbnb Getaway

Once a sleepy fishing village that welcomed few visitors, the town of Torquay on the southwest coast of Victoria is undergoing an exciting transformation and the stage of our Coastal Airbnb Getaway project.

The Torquay resurgence has been driven by a new generation of entrepreneurs and creatives who have fallen in love with this quirky coastal town. They are now working to help it become a must-visit destination that combines its rich history, natural beauty and relaxed vibe.

Coastal and Native Landscaping

With its close proximity to the beach, Greysea Landscaping Group wanted to ensure the two properties not only had low maintenance but brought a sense of native coastal living to the outdoor areas of this project. Incorporating local feature rocks, gravel and toppings to outline paths, and highlight the native plants were a key element. Using Corten steel edging to section areas with flowing features and house the natural stones without the need for retouching and repositioning.

We acquired recycled railway sleepers for use to line the property in architectural design for the spaced property line, together with boxed rock pits and steps at the rear of each property. Timber features throughout this project, from spotted gum entertaining decks to feature batten fencing on gates and walls to hide the large water tanks.

Our design incorporated native coastal banksias and acacias, as well as native grasses and correas to ensure not only, did the landscaping represent the location but would allow for the local wildlife to thrive at these properties. These native species blend with the rock coverings to produce coastal living at its finest.

The various paths surrounding the property are adorned with exposed aggregate and natural sandstone steppers to once again reduce maintenance and bring another element of texture and sophistication to the landscaping.
